Charleston, WV – In a recent announcement, Governor Jim Justice appointed Larry Pack as Acting Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Revenue, succeeding the departing Dave Hardy, now serving as a judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Kanawha County. Governor Justice expressed confidence in Pack’s ability to navigate the state’s financial landscape, citing his proven leadership, fiscal responsibility, and understanding of the tax code.
“Larry is a proven leader with a deep understanding of our state’s finances and a commitment to fiscal responsibility,” said Gov. Justice. “His business acumen and knowledge of the tax code will be invaluable in leading the Department of Revenue and I am confident that he will work tirelessly to ensure that West Virginia remains on the pathway to prosperity.”
Acting Secretary Pack, a lifelong West Virginian, brings a wealth of experience to the role. Initially elected to the House of Delegates in 2020, he later served as Senior Advisor to the Governor in 2022. Pack, a successful entrepreneur, recently sold Stonerise, a network of healthcare facilities across West Virginia and southeast Ohio. He is also a Republican candidate for West Virginia State Treasurer.
Pack expressed his honor and excitement about the appointment, stating, “I am honored to be appointed Acting Secretary of Revenue and I am excited to get to work on behalf of the people of West Virginia.” He emphasized the Department of Revenue’s role in fostering prosperity and committed to collaboration with Governor Justice and the Legislature.
He is currently the National Committeeman for the West Virginia Republican Party. Over the years he has served on various boards, including the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, West Virginia Health Right, West Virginia Healthcare Association and the West Virginia Alzheimer’s Association
In addition to his professional achievements, Pack is actively engaged in his community and an advocate for job creation and healthcare. Residing in Charleston with his wife, Lisa, Pack is a dedicated member of Bible Center Church. As the newly appointed Acting Secretary, Larry Pack will oversee various departments and agencies under the West Virginia Department of Revenue, playing a crucial role in the state’s economic trajectory.
