Huntington has another candidate for mayor. Patrick Farrell is a Huntington native, graduate of the Airforce Academy and a F15 Weapons System Operator who earned an MBA from Duke before returning home and entering the private sector.
During his private sector career he has founded technology companies and also is the President of Service Pump Supply. Farrell also serves as the Chairman of the Marshall Board of Governors where he chaired the Search Committee that was ultimately responsible for bringing Marshall President Brad Smith back to Huntington.
At the ceremony Farrell said, “Brad Smith is undoubtedly the right person, at the right place and at the right time to lead Marshall University as our next president. As the search concluded, we discovered there is only one Brad Smith … only one is a Son of Marshall, and only one had seemingly been preparing his whole life for just this moment.”
Many believe those same words could be said of Farrell and his run for mayor.
“I love Huntington. I left to serve our country and then came back home because I want to live and work here. That’s why I’ve been working for years to build our economy in the private sector. I’m running for Mayor to continue serving the city that I love.” @FarrellPatrickJ
Farrell says his desire to continue service is not about politics, it’s a natural extension of the lifelong commitment he’s made to his hometown. In addition to his role at Marshall, Patrick serves as a board member of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the West Virginia Economic Development Authority and the West Virginia Veterans Council.
