BERKELEY COUNTY, WV – Michael Folk a former Delegate and Gubernatorial candidate announced today he will run for the 15th Senatorial District against incumbent Craig Blair. Folk cited several reasons directly related to Blair’s tenure in the position including a pending Ethics Commission investigation related to the Senate President’s time and travel billing.
Born in Berkeley County, Folk and his wife Stella have five children, and he works as a commercial airline pilot.
Folk’s website (www.folk4wv.com) provides this statement:
“My first term as Delegate taught me a lot, mostly that the culture of corruption in Charleston is worse than I had thought when I first began in 2012. It has reinforced my desire to change the direction of our County, State and Country.”Michael Folk for state senate
Blair last faced Kenneth Mattson in the 2020 Republican Primary where he won by a narrow 5.4% (804 votes). The district has since changed slightly due to re-districting. In 2020, Michael Folk finished third in the Republican primary for West Virginia Governor with 12.5% of the vote.
