Former Minority Leader Doug Skaff Jr, resigned from the House today. It has been speculated that Skaff would be changing his party affiliation to Republican and possibly running for a higher office. Skaff was still registered as a Democrat at the time of his resignation. A Democrat appointed by Governor Justice will fill his seat.

Skaff said when he stepped down as Minority Leader in early August, he planned to spend extra time focused on his businesses and coaching his three boys on the soccer fields.

First elected in 2008, Skaff served three initial terms before running for the WV Senate. Andrew Byrd then succeeded him in the House of Delegates. He was elected back to the House in 2018.

Skaff is also the President of HD Media.
